Established in 1988, we have spent three decades providing services to families in the Alexandria area.
Our animal hospital is clean, comfortable, and convenient, with your pet’s needs at the forefront of everything we do. Pets and their families are our number-one priority. We know what you and your pet need, because we are pet owners, too!
We specialize in the care and treatment of cats and dogs, and have a range of services available at our facility.
Our expertise ranges from therapeutic services to preventive exams to acupuncture.
Meet the Team
Elissa Thorndike, DVM
Dr. Thorndike is originally from outside of New York City but spent almost a decade in Colorado, enjoying all the Rocky Mountains have to offer. She received her DVM at Colorado State University, returning back east to complete an internship at Southpaws Veterinary Center, and yes she is a lefty. The last 20 years have been spent working at a busy practice in NOVA while raising her 2 children Evan and Milly and caring for a multitude of rescued critters. When away from work you can find her in a kayak, a hiking trail, or volunteering with a local rescue group.
Emari Yokota, DVM
Dr. Yokota grew up in Maryland and Pennsylvania. She received her B.S. in Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech in 2008. Dr. Yokota graduated in 2013 from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, she completed a one year internship at South Paws Veterinary Specialists. She is certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Dr. Yokota shares her home with her loving husband, Matt, their dog, Casey, and kitty, Luna.
Ashley Redwine, LVT, Practice Manager
Ashley joined the Kingsview family in July of 2018. She moved all the way from Texas, where she was born and raised. Ashley knew from an early age that she wanted to work with animals. She graduated in 2012 from Midland College with an associates degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Before coming to Kingsview, Ashley worked at both a small animal general practice and an emergency clinic in Texas. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are interacting with patients and performing dental cleanings.
Ashley lives with her boyfriend and her two dogs, a corgi mix named "Remington" and a pitbull named "Shadow". During her free time she enjoys reading, working out at the gym and spending time anywhere near water, whether it be the pool or a lake. She is very much looking forward to experiencing the East Coast beaches.
Jessica grew up in Northern Virginia and has always had a passion for animals. She has worked with everything from pocket pets, exotics, cats and dogs, to large farm animals. Her interest in animals started while she was in high school working as a kennel assistant. From their she went onto study Biology at Keuka College where she did her first animal internship in small animals. She then completed a second internship with large animals, and new that the veterinary field was for her.
Jessica currently lives with her crazy coonhound Addie and freshwater fish. When Jessica is not working with animals, she likes to spend her time hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She is also working towards getting her veterinary technician license.
Nor as born and raised in Virginia. She always knew she wanted to work with animals since she was a child. She first started in the veterinary field at an emergency hospital back in 2014, and loved every minute of it. Helping patients recover and seeing them go back home is an indescribable feeling. She switched it up and went to general practice to gain more knowledge about general patient care and prevention. When she is not working she am a full time mother to an amazing 4 year old boy named Anthony. They enjoy their free time by spending time outside, going hiking, riding bikes and playing with their pit bull mix Chola. Anthony is growing up to love animals just like his mom, and carries his hamster Oso everywhere.
Jessica was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She always knew she wanted to work with animals. In 2018, she graduated from Northern Virginia Community College’s Veterinary Technology Program. She enjoys all aspects of her job, but getting to know new people and their beloved pets is one of her favorites. Jessica and her fiancé share their home with their 2 dogs Lexi and Buddy, 3 cats Smokey, Chloe, Asher and guinea pig Zeus. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and hiking.
Pam made a switch to working with animals after working in the art field for several years. She grew up in Northern Virginia and studied art history at Christopher Newport University, later taking the opportunity to travel abroad before moving to Scotland to pursue a Master’s in Art and Business at the University of Aberdeen.
Art and animals have always been two major passions in Pam’s life. As a watercolor artist herself, Pam specializes in paintings and illustrations of animals, including pet portraits. Outside of work, she enjoys creating artwork, spending time in the sunshine, cracking jokes, reading, and cuddling with her little dog, Chase.
One of the first faces you'll see here at Kingsview is Caroline's. As one of our receptionists, Caroline strives to tend to all your (and your fur baby's) needs. She's an Alexandria native who has attended Mount Vernon High School, Northern Virginia Community College, and looks forward to joining George Mason in the fall. Similar to her coworkers, her passion for animals stems from childhood.
She's married to a U.S Navy Sailor, has a 3 year old son, Logan, and a 7 year old Rottweiler, Ivy.
Jodi and her Husband moved to Virginia from the Midwest. She joined Kingsview in 2019. Her love of animals started at an early age when her family found a cat and decided to give him a home. Since then she has always had a cat, occasionally some mice, a fish or two, and a bird. Jodi is very excited to be a part of the Kingsview family, and grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn more about animals.
